Ian can't believe that。 He calls her brother FBI Agent Reed Rice。 She is not charged and Ian chooses to help her find the real killer and bring him in。A journey of investigation that brings in Malone's brother's wife, Sierra Byrd Rice and the rest of her family, the Nighthawk Security team, and Veritas Center。 Ian must work with the others and help clear Malone。 God has a plan for these two, a plan for hope and a future。 God has a plan for you too, a good plan for peace and not destruction even when our country is falling apart。 。。。more

A thrilling mystery reminiscent of Mary Higgins Clark’s style, this story about a serial killer offers frights and insights into the human psyche。 Attorney Malone Rice must prove she is not guilty of murder and works with the team to help catch the guilty party。 Multiple threads from the past and present converge as the plot tightens their links。 It’s great to have another tale in this series and join the characters we love to cheer for as they solve a tough case。 Don’t miss this exciting novel, A thrilling mystery reminiscent of Mary Higgins Clark’s style, this story about a serial killer offers frights and insights into the human psyche。 Attorney Malone Rice must prove she is not guilty of murder and works with the team to help catch the guilty party。 Multiple threads from the past and present converge as the plot tightens their links。 It’s great to have another tale in this series and join the characters we love to cheer for as they solve a tough case。 Don’t miss this exciting novel, which can stand on its own。 I received a copy from the author。 All opinions are my own。 。。。more

SUPERIOR SUSPENSE! “Just the sight of this man curled Malone’s stomach and sent a bead of sweat down her back。”One of my favorite things is to open a new Susan Sleeman novel and read her first sentence。 Sleeman has a true gift of being able to grab your attention from the first sentence, paragraph and chapter and keep it all throughout the rest of her novel。 Her plots are always intriguing, her characters are usually part of a series and you have already come to know them and few like they are r SUPERIOR SUSPENSE! “Just the sight of this man curled Malone’s stomach and sent a bead of sweat down her back。”One of my favorite things is to open a new Susan Sleeman novel and read her first sentence。 Sleeman has a true gift of being able to grab your attention from the first sentence, paragraph and chapter and keep it all throughout the rest of her novel。 Her plots are always intriguing, her characters are usually part of a series and you have already come to know them and few like they are real friends, her settings are realistic and her descriptions make you feel as though you are a participant in the action as opposed to being just a reader。Night Prey is the story of Malone Rice。 She, like many of us, would rather just skip her High School Reunion as those were not the best days of her life。 However, she is receiving an Award for her pro bono work with homeless teens。 Also, it means she will run into her former high school flame and now Portland Police Detective Ian Blair。 Fifteen years have passed since their messy breakup。 They find themselves thrown together as they work to solve a murder。 Unfortunately, Malone is accused of being the killer of someone from their Reunion。 However, there are still many unanswered questions。 As they work together to solve the case, they fight their growing attraction because they realize how strong their love was and could be again。 Sleeman’s skills to continue to heighten the suspense throughout the solving of this case makes for an exciting and totally worthwhile read!I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by the author/publisher。 The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence。 。。。more

'She needed answers。 Desperately。'Susan Sleeman has been my go-to for inspirational romantic suspense for years。 Her books occupy serious real estate on my shelves and for good reason。 She knows exactly how to tell an incredibly good story, full of great characters and ratcheting up the suspense level till the reader is on pins and needles to see how it ends。 She never fails to minister to me in someway with her powerful spiritual content, too。 And in this last book of her Night Hawk Security se 'She needed answers。 Desperately。'Susan Sleeman has been my go-to for inspirational romantic suspense for years。 Her books occupy serious real estate on my shelves and for good reason。 She knows exactly how to tell an incredibly good story, full of great characters and ratcheting up the suspense level till the reader is on pins and needles to see how it ends。 She never fails to minister to me in someway with her powerful spiritual content, too。 And in this last book of her Night Hawk Security series, she again proves she is a dab hand at suspense, and she gives her readers a very nice surprising twist near the end。 Well done1My thanks to the publisher for a copy of this book。 The opinion in this review is entirely my own。 。。。more

This is the last book in the Nighthawk Security series, and it is full of suspenseful moments。 In this book we get to hear Malone’s story, even though she technically isn’t a Byrd, she is related to the family through her brother Reed。 This tale starts off with a bang and doesn’t let you go until the end。 It truly wraps up the series in a way that brings all the characters together。 I loved how it all ended and how the author slyly introduced the next new series。 I’m sure we might be seeing more This is the last book in the Nighthawk Security series, and it is full of suspenseful moments。 In this book we get to hear Malone’s story, even though she technically isn’t a Byrd, she is related to the family through her brother Reed。 This tale starts off with a bang and doesn’t let you go until the end。 It truly wraps up the series in a way that brings all the characters together。 I loved how it all ended and how the author slyly introduced the next new series。 I’m sure we might be seeing more of these wonderful characters in the next books。 The Nighthawk Security team is a family of brothers who are ready to make the city of Portland, as well as the surrounding area, safe。 They use their skills and give of their time and resources, to make this happen。 I’ve enjoyed getting to know the whole Byrd family。 It was touching to read that the one thing Malone wanted most was to be a part of a family and she never really did feel that way until she met the Byrds。 When reading this story, I enjoyed being able to envision exactly where it’s all happening, because this author has set it in my home state。 I know of many of the places she mentioned in this book and her descriptions are spot on。One of the reasons I love reading books by Susan Sleeman。 She paints the picture of what is out there and what we as people need to be aware of。 Susan Sleeman doesn’t sugarcoat her stories。 They are hard-hitting and gritty。This book not only has action, tension, and suspense but there is a bit of romance 。 。 。 well, maybe a little more than a bit! These characters learned that it’s okay to rely on others and God because He’s there for us and wants our best。 They also learn the meaning of family and what a strong family truly is like。If you love action, suspense, and intrigue, then I highly recommend you pick this series up and start reading it! However, I have to warn you, once you start reading, you won’t be able to stop! I stayed up way too late to finish this book。 WOW!I was given this book by the publisher which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own。 。。。more

I'm so sad that this is the last book in the series because I'm not ready for it to end but there will soon be a new series from this fantastic author so I don't have to wait long to jump into a new series! This book features Malone Rice and although she isn't in the Byrd family like the other books, she is loosely related because her brother is married to one and she's been in most of the other books。 This time she is the heroine。 She goes to her high school reunion and soon wishes she hadn't! That's a true Susan Sleeman book, however! She loves to keep the reader guessing all the time。 Where you start is never where you expect to end! This can be a standalone read but do yourself a favor and read the whole series! It's well worth it! 。。。more

The Byrd brothers and their sister are an integral part of this story, but unlike the others in the series, they are not the heroes。 The hero is Ian Blair and the heroine is Malone Rice。 Malone has appeared in various stories by the author but she is in the spotlight this time。 And what an entrance she makes。 She goes to her high school reunion as an honoree and leaves as a suspect for murder。 She certainly had to be thinking that she should have stayed home as she was initially inclined to do。 The Byrd brothers and their sister are an integral part of this story, but unlike the others in the series, they are not the heroes。 The hero is Ian Blair and the heroine is Malone Rice。 Malone has appeared in various stories by the author but she is in the spotlight this time。 And what an entrance she makes。 She goes to her high school reunion as an honoree and leaves as a suspect for murder。 She certainly had to be thinking that she should have stayed home as she was initially inclined to do。 However, that is just the beginning of the story, not the end。 Once again, I admired the way the Byrds worked together to help others, and they certainly circled the wagons to protect Malone。 The story takes some interesting twists and turns with several surprises along the way。 Although Ian had to arrest Malone due to the circumstances, he was almost certain that she did not have it in her to pull the trigger and end the life of another human。 Several questions quickly rose to the top。 If she was innocent, who did it? Why did she have the murder weapon in her hand? If she was being set up, what possible reason would anyone have for trying to frame her? So many questions and so few answers。 The author uses just the right blend of action, romance, suspense, faith, and family to keep the interest of her readers。 I received an advance copy of this book from the author。 This is my honest review。 All opinions are strictly my own。 。。。more

Malone is at her high school reunion。 She has too many bad memories of high school to be there。 Especially where Junior is concerned。 But when Junior tells her that he has some information about her parents' death Malone is curious and goes to meet him in a separate ballroom。 Just as she is about to hear the information Junior has, someone guns him down and conveniently frames Malone for the murder。 Ian is at the reunion also。 A crush that Malone had when she was in high school。 He is now a poli Malone is at her high school reunion。 She has too many bad memories of high school to be there。 Especially where Junior is concerned。 But when Junior tells her that he has some information about her parents' death Malone is curious and goes to meet him in a separate ballroom。 Just as she is about to hear the information Junior has, someone guns him down and conveniently frames Malone for the murder。 Ian is at the reunion also。 A crush that Malone had when she was in high school。 He is now a police detective which suits his personality of being her rescuer in high school。 Now Ian has to arrest Malone for murder。 Can the two of them prove that Malone didn't kill Junior? Was the information that Junior wanted to share about her parents the cause of Junior's murder or was there more going on in Junior's life? Night Prey is the last book in the Nighthawk Security series。 While Malone isn't exactly a member of the Byrd family her brother is married to one so in Peggy Byrd's mind that makes Malone family! Malone has been featured in other Nighthawk stories and it was so good to have this book dedicated to her story。 I loved how once again the Veritas Center and the Nighthawk gang surround one of their own and provide their services。 Both Ian and Malone had pasts that had prevented them from becoming close to anyone they ever dated。 Neither of them were prepared to act on the attraction they had for each other。 I liked them as a couple but I did want to have a "sit down" with them and give them a "come to Jesus" talking to! Thankfully Peggy Byrd did that to Ian and got him thinking! Night Prey also had some exciting scenes of danger and suspense and the conclusion definitely surprised me。 As always the characters had spiritual lessons to learn about trusting God with their fears, doubts and insecurities。 I always love to see how they ultimately run back to the Lord and get back on track。 A great conclusion to a fantastic series! Bring on the next series Susan Sleeman! I can't wait to read more about the Steele family! 。。。more
